| Abstract: | [cat]L’escultura funerària d’època moderna a Mallorca ha estat poc estudiada. Per aquest motiu és important conèixer millor les vicissituds constructives de les obres més monumentals i documentar-ne l’autoria. Ara es presenta la documentació que permet adjudicar la tomba de Pere Descatlar (c. 1595-1651), conservada a l’església de Sant Francesc de Palma, a l’escultor Pere Joan Pinya (c. 1600-1680), fins ara conegut sobretot com a autor de retaules i talles de fusta, alhora que es contextualitza en el panorama del sepulcre monumental barroc a l’illa. ; [eng]The Majorcan modern funerary sculpture has not been thoroughly studied, yet. It is nevertheless important to understand the constructive vicissitudes of the most monumental tombs and to document their authors. This paper provides the documentation that leads to ascribing Pere Descatlar’s tomb in the church of Saint Francis of Palma to the sculptor Pere Joan Pinya (c. 1600- 1680), known until now especially as the author of altarpieces and wood carving. At the same time, this piece of art is placed in the broader context of baroque monumental tomb crafting on the island. |
