[CAT] La comunicació s'estructura en tres parts. A la primera, s'analitzen les diverses maneres que hi hagué al segle XVI d'abordar el problema dels pobles americans, humans però tan diferents en els seus costums als europeus, i de la forma com aquestes maneres, malgrat les diferencies, responien a una concepció d'ésser humà universal, amb un sol origen. A la segona s'analitza la posició de Montaigne respecte d'aquesta diversitat cultural, radicalment distinta a la de la seva època. A la tercera, es fa un salt a l'actualitat, d'una banda, mostrant com les posicions monogenistes han configurat la raó moderna i com aquesta ha resultat incapaç de resoldre els problemes derivats de la multiculturalitat; i d'altra banda, suggerint un retorn a la posició montaniana per tal de reflexionar més acuradament sobre aquests problemes. ; [ENG] This paper is organized in three parts. In the first one, several ways that existed in the XVIth century to deal with the problem of American peoples -human people but so different in their customs from European people- are analysed. It is also examined how these ways, in spite of the differences, answered to a conception of universal human being with an only origin. In the second one Montaigne's attitude towards this cultural diversity is analysed, attitude which was radically different from the one at his time. In the third one, there is a jump into present time. On the one hand, showing how monogenistic attitudes have shaped the modem reason and how it has proved to be unable to solve the problems derived from cultural diversity. On the other hand, suggesting a return to Montaigne's attitude in order to reflect on these problems more accurately. |
