La recerca biomèdica és una activitat indispensable per generar coneixement, prendre millors decisions clíniques i contribuir al progrés del sistema sanitari. La evidència indica que els metges investigadors obtenen millors resultats clínics en els seus pacients. Però, tota investigació clínica en pacients ha de ser regulada i monitoritzada, per evitar errors del passat i excessos. Des-de mitjans del segle XX, es va fer palès la necessitat per als científics clínics, universitats i associacions professionals de desenvolupar un consens sobre les millors pràctiques ètiques en moltes àrees de la investigació científica a realitzar en humans, i diversos tractats i convencions crearen els actuals Comitès d’Ètica de la Investigació. Aquest article especial commemora els primers quinze anys d’activitat del Comitè d’Ètica de la Investigació de les Illes Balears (CEI-IB) durant el període 2001-2015. En total, s’han avaluat 1.437 protocols de recerca, i se presenten les tendències respecte l’origen dels seus promotors, els centres i serveis de realització. Se revisa la documentació i requisits necessaris per la revisió dels protocols, els procediments normalitzats de treball, i s’aporten els enllaços web d’interès. Finalment, se posa de manifest la seva actualitat en l’àmbit de la recerca dins de les Illes Balears, i se plantegen breument les oportunitats futures. ; Biomedical research is an essential activity to generate knowledge and make better clinical decisions, and it contributes to the progress of the health system. Growing evidence indicates that medical researchers obtain better clinical outcomes in their patients. But, all clinical research in patients must be regulated and monitored, to avoid past mistakes and excesses. Since mid twentieth century, the need for clinician scientists, universities and professional associations to develop a consensus on the best ethical practices in many areas of scientific research performed on humans became clear, and various treaties and conventions originated the current Research Ethics Committees. This special article is commemorating the first fifteen years of the Research Ethics Committee of the Balearic Islands (Comitè d’Ètica de la Investigació de les Illes Balears (CEI-IB)) during the period 2001-2015. In total, 1,437 research protocols have been evaluated, and trends are presented regarding the origin of its promoters, and the conduct at centers and by which services. It reviews the documentation and requirements for the review of protocols, standard operating procedures, and is also listing web links of interest. Finally, it highlights the current status of research in the Balearic Islands, and future opportunities are briefly identified. |
