; [eng] We present the current state of archaeological research at Quebrada de Los Corrales (El Infiernillo, Tucumán, northwest Argentina). The study area is located above 3000 m asl and comprises the lower, middle and upper basin of the river Los Corrales. The research work carried out so far, helped to identify archaeological evidence for different times of the middle and late Holocene, ranging from c. 7400 to c. 650 years BP. This long occupational sequence of about 6700 years ago makes Quebrada de Los Corrales a good starting point to reflect on various issues both locally and regionally. On the one hand, we try to understand the beginnings of occupations by groups with a hunter-gatherer economy during the middle Holocene, the transition to food production, full establishment of agro-pastoral village societies in the early centuries of the 1st millennium AD, and the causes that produced the abrupt end of these occupations villages c. 1500 years BP. Also, try to interlink the occupational history of our study area, within the sociocultural and environmental development of northwestern Argentine in prehispanic times.
