[cat] La conquesta catalana del 1229 va significar la caiguda de la dominació musulmana de l’illa de Mallorca, la qual cosa va comportar la desaparició de tot un sistema polític i social, però també de la cultura i la llengua àrab, i per descomptat, de la religió islàmica. A partir d’aquell moment la religió que es va imposar va ser el cristianisme. Els nous colons varen desenvolupar una extensa xarxa eclesiàstica arreu de Mallorca que va suposar la construcció de nombrosos temples: esglésies parroquials, conventuals, hospitalàries, capelles palatines, sufragànies... Aquesta gran implantació d’edificis religiosos fou possible gràcies a la promoció i protecció que arribà de la mà de la monarquia, però també hi varen participar bisbes, gremis i nobles. Tanmateix, no podem oblidar l’ajuda econòmica que aportà el poble menut a través de nombroses deixes testamentàries amb la intenció, per una banda, d’ajudar a la construcció dels edificis, però, de l’altra, també amb l’objectiu d’assegurar-se la salvació eterna en el moment de deixar aquest món. ; [eng] The Catalan conquest of 1229 meant the fall of the Islamic domination of the island of Mallorca, which led to the disappearance of an entire political and social system, but also of Arab culture and language, and of course, of the Islamic religion. From that moment on, the religion that prevailed was Christianity. The new setters developed an extensive ecclesiastical network throughout Mallorca.
