La presente investigación se centra en un conjunto de azulejos hallados en el Consulado del Mar de Palma que configuró uno de los revestimientos cerámicos más representativos de las Islas Baleares, hoy desaparecido. El estudio documental contribuye a contextualizar las series identificadas en el marco constructivo del edificio seiscientista y las tendencias decorativas del momento. La originalidad de unos diseños de encargo, las particularidades morfológicas de las piezas y los resultados provisionales del estudio arqueométrico realizado apoyan la hipótesis de una producción mallorquina de azulejería polícroma en época moderna, novedosa frente a la predominante importación documentada ; The current research is focused on a set of tiles found in the Consulate of the Sea in Palma, which feature as one of the most representative ceramic coatings of the Balearic Islands, nowadays disappeared. The documental research contributes in the contextualisation of the series identified in the constructive frame of the 16th century building and the decorative tendencies of the moment. The originality of custom design, the morphological particularities of the pieces and the provisional results of the study of archeometric design support the hypotheses of a Majorcan production of polychrome coating in the modern period, a novelty considering the predominance of documented imports |
