[eng] Winter census of Wildfowl and Shorebirds in the Balearic Islands, January 2007. Results of the winter 2007 census of Wildfowl and Shorebirds in the Balearics are given. In 2007 a total of 21,623 individuals of 61 species were recorded. The results are compared with the average for the last 16 years. This shows a decrease in almost all the groups in Mallorca except ducks, a marked decrease of Pelecaniformes (Great Cormorant, Phalacrocorax carbo) and Charadriformes in Menorca and a marked decrease of Flamingos Phoenicopterus roseus in the Pitiyusics, as well as a slight increase in numbers of Black-necked grebes Podiceps nigricollis in Formentera. |
