| Abstract: | Introducción: Presentamos un estudio sobre los hombres y mujeres que fueron internados en el Hospital General de Mallorca en los últimos años del siglo XV. Se basa en los listados donde se recogieron los detalles personales de algunos de los sujetos allí acogidos entre los años 1482 y 1494. Tras revisar las causas principales de la fundación del establecimiento y algunas noticias sobre este proceso, se examinan determinadas características de los hombres y mujeres a los que prestó asistencia durante ese período. Se establecen los porcentajes de varones y mujeres y en algunos casos sus edades y estado civil. Cuando la documentación lo permite, se determina asimismo quién decidía la indicación de ingreso, el motivo por el cual se efectuaba, las enfermedades padecidas y cuál fue su evolución. ; Introduction:We present this paper on the men and women who were admitted to Mallorca General Hospital in the last years of the 15th century. It is based on the lists that collected personal details of some individuals who were admitted there between 1482 and 1494. The paper examines the main reasons for the founding of the General Hospital and some news about this process. It also examines some particular characteristics of the men and women who were treated during that period. It determines the percentage of men and women, and in some cases, their ages and marital status. When the documentation allows it, this work also indicates who decided to admit an individual, the reason for such admittance, the disease he was suffering, and his evolution. |
