Abstract: | [eng] Oecanthus Blanchard, 1845 is a genus of tree crickets. Two species of this genus are known in Europe, Oecanthus pellucens (Scopoli, 1763) and Oecanthus dulcisonans (Gorochov, 1993), but only O. pellucens had been registered in the Balearic Islands. According to the existing data, Oecanthus dulcisonans is a relatively rare species and its distribution across Europe is limited. However, we must bear in mind that its morphology is very similar to that of Oecanthus pellucens, a very well-known species which is present all over the Palearctic region. Their morphological similarity explains the fact that the two have historically been confused during classification processes. Their song or stridulation, on the other hand, makes it possible to differentiate these two species in the field. The analysis of the recordings of their stridulations in the field, carried out during the 2020 campaign, has made it possible to identify Oecanthus dulcisonans for the first time in the Balearic Islands. The first recordings of Oecanthus dulcisonans in the Balearic Islands and information on the main differentiating characteristics of this species are provided. This data serves as a basis for further studies on the ecological status and the geographical distribution of this species in the Balearic Islands.
