[eng] Breeding attempt by the flamingo Phoenicopterus roseus at the Salobrar de Campos (Mallorca) saltpans in 2006. An attempt at breeding is described for a group of some 140 flamingos at the saltpans during July and August 2006. About 20 nests were constructed but egg-laying was not confirmed. The nesting area was abandoned in October and numbers declined steadily to just 3 individuals at the beginning of December.An analysis has also been made of other new sites where flamingos have bred, or attempted without success, in recent years within the Iberian peninsula. |
